Off Grid Tiny Cabin.

Building a tiny cabin is a rewarding project that I think anyone can learn and enjoy. This is our complete Tiny Cabin Building collection of videos.

How I Built an Off Grid Tiny Cabin!

For several years I was interested in building a tiny house. I studied a variety of different designs and other similar building projects. After eventually realizing the design I wanted to try, a steel utility trailer serendipitously showed up and the build began.

With no experience in building anything like a tiny home, and nothing more than my own rough drawings to guide me, I set out to build my little Gypsy style cabin on wheels.

This is the first video in the series.

Building an Off Grid Cabin.

I don't know if I'm the right person to say how to build a tiny cabin. I'm not a professional builder, nor do I have a great amount of experience. What I would like to offer though, is to share my experience of how I built my little tiny cabin on wheels - a 50 square foot gypsy wagon vardo.

The off grid cabin building videos presented below are listed in order.

The Trailer

This is how I started building my tiny home on wheels.

After finding a steel utility trailer for sale online, it was time to get started.

Installing the Door

With the door built, it's time to install it... and just in time for winter.

Building the Step

The door was built and installed but my step ladder was too tall, so I had to build a step.

Electrical & Insulation

The exterior was more or less finished and it was time to get going on the interior. The first step was to do some basic wiring and insulate the off grid cabin.

Off Grid Tiny Cabin - What I've done so far.

2020 was a difficult year for most people with the pandemic affecting our lives one way or another. For me, the pandemic slowed down the build when the local economy was shut down and we were restricted to stay at home. In addition, in early spring I injured my right shoulder which prevented me from doing a lot of the heavy work. Still, the year was productive and the off grid tiny cabin was really starting to take shape.
